fission appointed to critical electricity infrastructure development

fission is pleased to announce our recent appointment as Independent Cost Advisor to CuString for their CopperString 2.0 HV Power Transmission Project.

Copperstring will see a 1,000km high-voltage network line and associated substations that will connect the people, businesses and communities of Mount Isa, Cloncurry and the Northwest Minerals Province to the National Electricity Grid. As a major economic generator, CopperString 2.0 is predicted to create thousands of new jobs and billions of dollars in increased revenues for Queensland and Australia, boosting the national income by $45 billion while unlocking the world-class minerals province with an estimated known resource valued at $740 billion.

“The project represents a major economic investment for regional Queensland and will deliver new opportunities for mining, industrial and manufacturing and renewable energy enterprises. fission is proud to be involved in a project which would deliver wide-ranging social and economic benefits for Queensland,” said fission’s Operations Director, Jarrod McHugh.

“Copperstring are leading a truly innovative infrastructure development encompassing planning and approvals, Community and Stakeholder engagement, project finance and procurement. Our specialists will work closely with the Copperstring team and their nominated EPC Contractor to critically assess methodology, cost and risk associated with delivering the project.”
