Connecting Melbourne and Brisbane via regional Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland, Inland Rail is a once in a generation project. When completed, Inland Rail will transform the movement of goods around Australia, better connecting producers to markets and creating new opportunities for businesses, industries and regional communities.
Enabling the use of double-stacked, 1,800m-long trains with a 21-tonne axle load at a maximum speed of 115km/h, Inland Rail allows for the transit of greater freight volumes, with each train carrying the equivalent freight volume of 110 B-double trucks.
Director Roger Burman welcomed fission’s appointment to the project, “fission is incredibly proud to be working with ARTC and their Inland Rail team to deliver one of the largest infrastructure projects in Australian history; a project which will benefit not only the National economy but importantly Regional economies also”.
“In many ways, our business has been steadily building people, systems and information management expertise to support major complex infrastructure projects, and we are now truly excited to provide our full business capability to ARTC and their Inland Rail Teams”.
”As an organisation, we are in the perfect position to support the Inland Rail Team as they advance this highly technical and complex project. We have over two decades of experience supporting Federal and State Government Agencies through providing specialist consulting services across project development, cost and risk management. We have been fortunate to participate in several large rail projects over the past ten years, from cost estimating to actual construction delivery, and look forward to applying our knowledge to the Inland Rail project”.
Several of our Senior Management Team come from careers working with Tier # 1 to Tier # 3 construction companies and delivered large scale infrastructure projects. In our role as cost and risk advisor through the project procurement and delivery phases, we will draw on our cost estimating and construction experience alike to target transparency and value for money for Inland Rail”.
“We are very much looking forward to rolling up our sleeves and working with ARTC and their team to support the delivery of this critical piece of Australian infrastructure”.
