fission appoints Jason Finselbach to lead the organisation’s Energy Services Team

fission is delighted to welcome Jason Finselbach to the team to support our growth and continued success in the energy sector. A senior leader with significant expertise and experience supporting the development of energy projects, Jason will lead fission’s Energy Services Team, supporting key projects such as Humelink and Copperstring 2.0.

“I’m thrilled to be joining fission,” said Jason. “From Queensland’s Energy and Jobs plan to groundbreaking projects such as Star of the South in Gippsland, the sector is experiencing rapid development as the nation’s energy mix changes and new facilities are needed to support the growth in renewables as well as new energy sources such as green hydrogen.”

“With energy projects proposed to be built in zones that may include Wind, Solar and Hydro or Battery storage, a key aspect of their success will be their ability to link to the National Energy Market to power businesses and dwellings across Australia. As these generation sources are added, there is a need for substantial investment in the Power Transmission Network to facilitate this transition, and I am excited to be a part of this transition and look forward to assisting our clients to achieve the best possible value for money outcomes for their major projects.”

Jason’s experience spans 20 years delivering vital infrastructure projects with a particular focus on Power Transmission and Distribution, having worked for EPC Contractors, Engineering Consultants and Utilities such as Powerlink, Ergon Energy, Aurizon, Queensland Rail and Rio Tinto. Power projects that have benefited from Jason’s expertise include the 275kV Genex Hydro connection, 330kV McIntyre Wind Farm Connection, 275/110kV South Pine Substation Rebuild, Blackwater Rail System Power Upgrade and the Goonyella Rail Expansion Power Upgrade.

In addition, as an RPEQ certified Electrical Engineer, Jason’s experience in Control Systems, including Transport ITS, will further bolster fissions capability to support our portfolio of clients and projects across the transport and rail sector.

“We’re delighted to welcome Jason to the team,” said fission’s Jarrod McHugh. “Jason’s proven track record of supporting infrastructure development and experience across projects central to Australia’s future energy needs means he is the perfect person to lead our Energy Services Team, and we look forward to the significant contribution he will make to our ongoing success and that of our clients’ projects.”
